State your reason for choosing music as a career.

Since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of being a singer and knew that was going to be a part of my future someday.

I have been in the music industry since 2010 and it has been quite the ride. I have learned that my stories and songs resonate with many and have helped people get through tough times.

Music is healing and I want to help others, while also healing myself!

Tell us how you write the lyrics to your song.

I am always singing and humming, I tend to hear melodies while I am driving or doing housework, and lyrics will just kind of come out. When I don’t have a pen and paper close by; I record a quick voice note.

I love co-writing with my friend Rachel James, we bounce ideas from each other often and determine which songs are worth producing and recording.

I am not a super talented guitarist, but I do enjoy picking it up and coming up with ideas as well!

Colorado mom, entrepreneur, and musician Elise Lieberth is a survivor. Behind the beautiful lilting voice, there lies a dark past that she rose above, transforming into a fighter with big dreams.

Lieberth first emerged onto the music scene over a decade ago, steadily amassing over 12 million streams on Spotify and 25K YouTube subscribers.

Her underlying pain and strong emotions come through in her soulful vocals on cover songs by other powerful pop singers, including Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Bonnie Tyler, Sam Smith, and Mary Lambert.

Today, Lieberth released her third album of original music, Invincible, in January 2020 available exclusively on her Website.

Having developed a love for singing and performing at a very young age, Lieberth knew that music would be her lifelong passion. It was music that also carried her through some of the darkest periods of her life. She grew up in a dysfunctional household, enduring years of physical and emotional abuse as a child and teenager.

Determined to never let her circumstances break her spirit, Lieberth poured her pain, fears, and anger into her music. Blessed with her vocal abilities, she forged ahead with her music, singing in various bands. In 2009, she met a local musician named Tyler Ward, who ended up co-writing and producing her first album, Letters From Elise; that she released in May 2010.

Since then, she released five more albums that included a mix of cover songs, holiday songs, and her original songs. She eventually took a break between 2013-2018 to focus on her family. Meanwhile, her songs continued to garner millions of streams on Spotify. In addition, one of her cover songs, “According to You,” has been used in over 275K videos on the popular TikTok app. In 2018, she co-wrote 6 songs with her friend, local musician, and actress Rachel James for Lieberth’s new album, Invincible.

The Invincible album takes you on an emotional journey. From ending a relationship where the trust has been broken to surrendering, begging for forgiveness, realizing true beauty comes from within and finding true worth, doing better, falling in love, staying no matter what, and coming out stronger in the end.

Today, Elise Lieberth remains standing stronger than ever. She wants her music to empower and inspire others to always strive to be better and follow their dreams. Her new album, Invincible, is the result of Lieberth…

Discuss your life outside the music world.

I am a mom of 4, a wife, and I own 4 businesses! I stay very busy, but I enjoy the freedoms of owning my own businesses and I am grateful for the flexibility that allows me to pursue my music on a bigger scale.

Discuss your music career.

I started releasing cover songs on YouTube in 2010. After a brainchild of mine came to life to record and release a cover of ‘We Are the World’ with many talented musicians went viral, my YouTube channel started to grow quickly.

I released my first original album that same year and released cover songs weekly.

I released my sophomore album in 2013, performed a sold-out album release show.

I got married and had my 3rd child in 2013, and decided to take a break from music, to focus on my family. I realized something was missing from my life in 2018; I was very depressed, unhappy, and knew I needed to continue to make music if nothing else, for my own sanity. I reached out to my friend Rachel James to write a song or 2 and before we knew it, we had written 6 songs.

In 2019 I discovered my cover song ‘According to You’ had gone viral on Tik Tok, with over 292k people who have created a video. It has made things so exciting again, more people are discovering my original music and my Spotify listeners have grown to 152K monthly listeners.

I released my 3rd album, titled Invincible on Jan 31, 2020 – playing a nearly sold-out show at The Soiled Dove. My album is available on my website only now, I am slowly releasing the songs from my album as singles. I have big goals in 2020 – I plan to release one original and one cover song every month for the rest of the year!

Elaborate on your artist’s name.

Elise Lieberth is the name I was born with, so it was just natural to use that for music purposes as well.

.

.

.

Tell us your source of inspiration.

I draw most of my inspiration from heartbreak and sadness. It is hard for me to write love songs, but I am determined to push myself out of my comfort zone.

.

.

.

Tell us about your experience in dealing with fans.

I have been fortunate to grow close with many of my fans, some from the UK, France, Canada, different parts of the US. I even had several “fans” turned friends travel from Canada, Texas, Minnesota, and Louisiana for my album release. It was so much fun and meant so much to me!

.

.

.

Elaborate on the recording of this song.

‘Not Sure of Anything’ was co-written with Rachel James, she brought the idea to me and when I heard it, I instantly got teary-eyed. It hit so close to home. It is about betrayal in a relationship and not knowing if it’s going to work out.

.

.

.

Tell us about your future projects.

I just finished recording another original song that I am so excited about; it is more country than anything I have released in the past and is just so fun! I don’t quite have a name for it, but it should be released in August or September of this year!

.

.

.

List the names of those that have supported you so far.

There are too many people to list here! My mom has always been my biggest supporter. My husband and kids are also so supportive. My brothers are always front row at every show. So many friends, family, and people who I have never even met have supported me along the way. I am so grateful!

.

.

.

Tell us your point of view on vocal tuning.

You can absolutely tell when a vocal has been tuned if they aren’t in tune. I don’t think it should ever be used to correct an out of tune vocal, but I do think to tune an in-tune vocal adds a nice crisp, clean finishing touch. It just has to be done tastefully.

.

.

.

Tell us your thought on quality and quantity for the release of songs.

I think quality is the most important thing when releasing music if you have enough quality material, quantity is important, too.  I would much rather take the appropriate time on a song for production, mixing and mastering, than rush and put out poor quality.

.

.

.

State the genre you despise most with reason.

I can generally appreciate all genres of music.

.

.

.

State the title of the song and the meaning.

Not Sure of Anything When you realize all trust has been broken in your relationship and you find yourself questioning everyone and everything.

You’re not sure of anything, anymore. That’s what ‘Not Sure of Anything’ is about. Confusion, fear, pain, and realization that everything you once believed in was not at all what it seemed.

Trust is a hard thing to regain and eventually all the lies you’ve been told are enough to break you.  It’s an emotional song that stems from a personal experience that unfortunately is far too common.

This is one of my favourite songs on the album, I love a good sad song, and I could see myself breaking down and crying to this song years ago when everything was fresh.

.

.

.

State the title of the album and the reason for choosing the title.

I titled my 3rd album ‘Invincible’ after a song on the album. I have been through so much in my life and have been able to heal, do better, persevere, and make it through so many obstacles. I feel like everything I have gone through has ultimately made me stronger in the end – Invincible, in sense.
