Young Burton aka YB, born as Darrio Burton in Beaufort, South Carolina, started rapping in 2014.

Being inspired by poverty and using music as a way to escape the reality of a broken community, YB is an artist and rapper with a fierce passion for lyricism and fast rhymes when it comes to crafting original hip hop.

Prodigy introduces his sound well, a track that grows more immersive and impressive as it moves along, but one that aims high from the offset – effectively tipping its hat to some of the yester-year greats.

.

.

Tell us your name, country of birth, and childhood experience.

My name is Darrio Burton from Beaufort South Carolina. My childhood wasn’t so bad but it wasn’t great either.

My father has 10 siblings so it wasn’t easy to get the things you want in life. I’m just another kid from the projects but I knew I would be somebody special one day.

.

.

.

Tell us how you discover hip-hop.

I discover hip-hop when I was a kid when Bet Awards was popular in the early 2000s.
.

.

.

Brief us your experience creating your first song.

I was lying on my cousin’s floor at his crib. And I told him I wanted to be a rapper and he was like for real. So he cooked up a beat for me and I made my first track 6 years ago. Came out dope but I was basic back then.

Discuss the difference between the old school songs and new school songs.

I feel like old school songs had more feelings than the new school songs.

Yes, I believe old school songs have more soul and new school is more drill music now.

.

.

.

Discuss the evolution in the sound of hip-hop.

The evolution in the sound of hip-hop is amazing. If you can listen to a song and make you feel good or change your life in any way I would say that’s great music. Music has been epic in my life and changed me to be a better person in life.

.

.

.

List the name of your favourite hip-hop artists and state your reason.

Lil Wayne – A monster in the booth

Drake – Never fails

Tupac – Legendary was for the people

Future – Made a wave

Explain what you understand by hip-hop culture to the best of your knowledge.
Hip-Hop is the most powerful culture. It influences all surroundings, fashion, and most of all the hip-hop culture helps to connect people; no matter the race, state, or country you go to.

.

.

.

Discuss hip-hop in detail.

Rhythm, emotion, powerful words that affect what you see, feel, and think. It’s outspoken and has the ability to change the laws, rules, and communicate with all different kinds of people.

.

.

.

List the name of hip-hop greatest producers and state your reason.

Zaytoven – because he shaped a whole 7 plus years of hip-hop through his hip-hop sound.

I also choose Murda on the beat. His wave is huge in my opinion. The 808’s make the song or songs he produced stand out like no other.

Last but not least metro booming. His fearless efforts to produce songs with heavy relatable lyrics take me out of this world. Those are my top 3 greatest producers in the world.

.

.

.

List the name of hip-hop greatest artists and state your reason.

Kanye, Drake, and Lil Wayne. I choose these 3 individuals for the same reason and this is my “why” – All 3 have shaped my entire life, also the way I think, the way I look at life and the hip hop world. They also have a solid work ethic and the ability to connect with me through the music they released.

.

.

.

Discuss the changes in hip-hop.

The beats, the way it’s produced, the simplicity with loops and recording, and also the directions hip-hop has gone. All of these reasons I’ve stated all come from this one point. Hip hop has changed from having a message to just having nice beats with less content and less topics on what’s going on in the world.

.

.

.

Tell us how you compose or write lyrics.

My music comes straight from the heart.

.

.

.

Brief us on your recording experience in the studio.

I just listen to the beat then I tell how I feel at that moment.

.

.

.

Tell us how you get involved in hip-hop.

My two older cousins and uncle are the reason why I make music they were making music when I was coming up.

.

.

.

Tell us your gain and loss as an artist.

I gained a lot of knowledge on the business side of the music and I lost a lot of friends and money being an artist.

.

.

.

Tell us the piece of advice you will give to a new artist.

Learn the business side of music.

.

.

.

Discuss the music industry.

The music industry is cool if you want to sign a deal just make sure you know what you are signing.

.

.

.

State your future goal.
I want to be number #1 on the Billboard charts.

.

.

.

Discuss the process involved in making this song.

This song is about a female that I thought felt the same way I did but it was false.
.

.

.

Tell us everything we need to know about the song.

If you really listen to the song, you can feel the raw emotion of a person who is sorry, and not afraid to tell the world. A spouse who has made mistakes, and is ready to own up to them. I feel that anyone, any age, who has ever been in love can relate to this song and its true meaning. Someone who just simply wants his/her true love back.

.

.

.

Tell us how you come up with the title of the song and your artist’s name.

Everything happens for a reason so I felt like ‘Reason’ was a perfect title for the song.

I got my name from my older cousins and people in the streets. I was from Burton so when people saw me they were like that’s Burton Boy so I just added the Young.
